Ajuga Valfredda ‘Chocolate Chip’ is a low growing variety with a chocolate brown tinge to the leaves.

It is probably the most compact of all Ajuga, making it ideal as a ground cover or in pots where it can act as a foil to other plants.

In early summer it produces spikes of blue flowers about 10cm (3 inches) high.

Like all Ajuga, Chocolate Chip prefers a position in partial shade as the leaves become scorched if it has too much sun.

It will grow in a range of soil conditions, including poorly drained soils, and is not fussy about soil pH.
