Plant in deep, well-drained, humus-rich soil, in sun or partial shade, with its roots in shade.

Mulch around the roots in spring with well-rotted manure or compost and feed with a slow release fertilizer.

Keep plants in containers well watered and feed fortnightly with a balanced liquid fertilizer during the growing season.
