Light rose to purple flowers (sometimes white) bell shaped and growing up one side of the stem.

A plant of the fairies who haunt the woodland dells where the plant grows.

The leaves used as a poultice to relieve swellings.

The plant is poisonous and contains digitalin, a powerful heart stimulant.

MEDICINAL

It was used in heart conditions but always under medical supervision. The dried leaves may be used externally as a poultice to help healing of wounds. It has many common names. Witches Gloves, Dead Mens Bells Fairy Glove, Fairy caps, Cloves of Om Hady, Bloody Fingers, Virgins Glove, Folks Glove and Fairy Thimbles.

The Foxglove plant has a stimulating effect when planted near other plants encouraging their growth and protecting them from fungus.

To help cut flowers keep fresh longer in vase try adding a tea made from foxglove leaves.
