Lonicera nitida makes an excellent evergreen hedging plant, ideal for hedges up to 5ft high.

Although it grows rather straggly when first planted it clips well and quickly forms a formal hedge as neat as box hedging ,

in fact it was commonly know as poor mans box.

It’s also useful for elaborate topiary shapes as its twiggy growth is quite supple and can be easily trained when young.

It thrives on most soils in sun or shade and will benefit from regular trimming to retain its shape.

Height up to 5ft if left untrimmed.

Frost protection required until risk has passed.
