Sorrel Green de Belleville (French)

Lemon flavoured, French type of Sorrel.

It was first domesticated in France in 1730. A small cultivar with pale green, 8cm (3″) long leaves with a citrus lemon flavour.

Can be used to make soups, stews or cook like spinach.

A perennial herb ideal for growing on an outdoor plot.

Handy Tip

Water plants regularly during hot weather. Sorrel grows best in water retentive soil in a sunny or partially shaded position. When cooking, do not use cast iron or aluminium cookware as this can taint the flavour.
